2022 Rangers Trade Deadline Summary

The 2022 Rangers Trade Deadline has come to an end, and it was a busy one for the Blueshirts. In total, they made five trades:

  1. Rangers acquire forward Frank Vatrano from Florida for a 2022 4th round pick.
  2. Rangers acquire defenseman Justin Braun from Philly for a 2023 3rd round pick.
  3. Rangers acquire forward Nick Merkley from San Jose for defenseman Anthony Bitetto.
  4. Rangers acquire forward Tyler Motte from Vancouver for a 2023 4th round pick.
  5. Rangers acquire forward Andrew Copp and a 2023 6th round pick from Winnipeg for forward Morgan Barron, 2 conditional 2022 2nds, and a 2023 5th
    • Condition 1: 2022 2nd can be a 2022 1st if the Rangers win two playoff rounds
    • Condition 2: Winnipeg gets a choice of a 2022 2nd (Oor a 2023 2nd

All in all, a solid trade deadline by Chris Drury, who gave up nothing of significance to enhance the Rangers depth. The Rangers needed at least two forwards, and they got three NHL forwards. They also solidified the defense depth.
