The Rangers are in St. Louis tonight, with Igor Shesterkin in net, to face the Blues after the other night’s no-show in Minnesota. Hopefully the Rangers show up in this one, because the Blues are a better team than the Wild. Having Shesterkin in net certainly helps, but the defensive effort needs to improve significantly.
The Rangers don’t need the points, but it would be nice to stay ahead of the Penguins in the standings. That said, perhaps it is more important for the Rangers to rest some of their guys, as it has been abundantly clear that they are tired and leaning too much on their top guys. Tonight is how you start setting much better process ahead of what will hopefully be a significant upgrade and reinforcement at the trade deadline.
