The Ryan Reaves trade had significant cap implications for the Rangers.

Hey folks, your resident hockey coach here.  West Coast swing for the Blueshirts means late night puck drops…and that also means a short and sweet Rangers goal breakdown, probably for the best given this mess. So lets get into it.

Knights 1 – Rangers 0

Ryan Lindgren tripped up Chandler Stephenson late in the period that lead to a Vegas power play.  Marchessault was able to bang home a rebound after a net mouth scramble that started with his original shot from the right circle.  Geogriev made a few stops by Marchessault has a free path and cleans up the garbage.

Vegas 1 – Rangers 1

Less than a a minute into the second the Rangers tied things up with a snapper from Chris Kreider that seemed to catch Robin Lehner by surprise.

Vegas 2 – Rangers 1

Rangers had some ozone time, but did something which I have been bitching about all season which is a a failure to extend the zone.  Fox shrank in and had shot blocked, then Hajek with a soft play to not get puck deep.  I am on the record of saying you should be able to kick the puck in.  Its a skill play and I have no problem with it, but as long as their is a “distinct kicking motion rule” in place…I have no idea how this is goal is allowed to stand, but I digress.

Vegas 3 – Rangers 1

Janmark with the “Marty St. Louis” move right here. Fantastic effort.  Hajek’s positioning wasn’t brutal, but needs to be tougher on the man here. Valiquette acknowledged it on the broadcast that Georgiev sank into the net too low and seemed to cheat middle and gets beat short side.

Vegas 4 – Rangers 1

LOL. Of course. Puck deflects off Hajek’s stick, but still think it should be saved. One of those nights.

Vegas 5 – Rangers 1

Jones misplayed this 2-on-1 badly, giving Marchessault a free, uncontested shot. But at 4-1, we see why Hajek pinched.

Game Score

Here is the Rangers impact card. They were brutal. Have to be better Saturday see you then.
