Top stories from last week:
- The Rangers had their four game win streak snapped by Calgary before rebounding in a big way against Columbus. Igor Shesterkin was again mesmerizing as the Rangers made it two in a row in Seattle.
- Live From The Blue Seats caught up with new Rangers beat writer Arthur Staple to discuss Vitali Kravtsov and his new role with The Athletic.
- The Rangers have had solid production from their top four defensemen, but the third pair has had some troubles. They need more time, and perhaps a different perspective for Nils Lundkvist.
- As good as the defense has been is as bad as the offense has been. A lot of that comes from Ryan Strome’s injury and how Artemiy Panarin was deployed on the powerplay. This has led to some interesting stats through the first two weeks of the season.
- It looks like Kravtsov is headed towards a trade, instead of reconciliation.
- The Rangers lost Ryan Reaves to another injury to the same leg he hurt in the preseason. He’s been placed on IR.
- Believe it or not, the Rangers are still projected to finish atop the Metro Division. They haven’t fired on all cylinders yet, but they are banking points when they need to.
- Igor Shesterkin has shown he can be the next elite goalie for the Rangers, and he’s actually keeping pace with Henrik Lundqvist’s rookie season stats.
