Rangers give Vitali Kravtsov permission to seek trade

Vitali Kravtsovs role with the Rangers

Per Elliotte Friedman, the NY Rangers have given forward and former 9th overall pick Vitali Kravtsov permission to seek a trade.

Per Friedman, Kravtsov did not make the team out of camp. On the podcast this morning (go listen!), the three of us thought that Kravtsov’s demotion was just a paper move for the Tom Wilson game, and he would be back in the lineup for opening night. It looks like that is not the case.

I am unsure what exactly the Rangers saw or didn’t see in Kravtsov over this preseason. However this is Gerard Gallant’s call that he didn’t make the team this year. I have faith in Gallant, even if I don’t agree with not even giving him a shot.

Makes you wonder why they traded Pavel Buchnevich, especially now since they could use another scoring RW. This has become a mess very quickly. It’s highly unlikely the Rangers recoup anything of value for Kravtsov in a trade now.
