The Rangers have made their first round of training camp cuts, cutting 13 players. Five players will go to their respective CHL teams, and the other eight will go to the Hartford Wolf Pack.

None of these cuts are a surprise, except for maybe Patrick Khodorenko. When he was signed as an undrafted free agent, he was viewed as some potential solid center depth. The way I read into this is the guys sent to Hartford are not necessarily viewed as injury replacements yet.

It is worth noting that Hunter Skinner was sent to the AHL, not to the OHL for an overage season. The Rangers clearly see something in him, and want him under their development in Hartford.
