You are given a Delorean with a brand new flux capacitor and enough plutonium to make one round trip into the past. You can go to any Rangers GM and undo one move. It can be a trade, a draft choice, a signing, an extension. Anything that a Rangers GM has done in the past, you can undo. However you don’t know what the future will bring if you undo it. Yes, I’m piggybacking off Jen below, but I figure the audience here isn’t overly active on Twitter. If you’re on Twitter, you should reply to her as well. Plus she’s one of the best follows on Twitter, no hyperbole.

For me, I’d undo the Sergei Zubov and Petr Nedved for Luc Robitaille and Ulf Samuelsson trade. That was bad all around, and there is no explaining your way out of it either. It made the team objectively worse from the start and gutted what remained of any young talent after the 1994 trade deadline. Plus it led to the Bruce Driver era, and that went swimmingly, didn’t it?

Other fun ones I’ve seen that are Rangers related:

  • Draft Vladimir Tarasenko over Dylan McIlrath
  • Undo the Dan Girardi extension at the 2014 trade deadline (rumored he would be dealt for Sami Vatanen, but that’s unconfirmed)
  • Undo the Rick Middleton for Ken Hodge trade
  • Don’t trade Brian Leetch for “a bunch of noodles”

Surprisingly nothing was mentioned yet about the 2003 draft or hiring Bryan Trottier as coach.

So which Rangers GM move would you undo? How do you think it would impact the future?
