Adam Fox has won the 2021 Norris Trophy for the NHL’s best defenseman. Fox was named a Norris finalist three weeks ago, and for some reason we never thought he would win it. The voters usually vote reputation and Fox needed to “earn” it. Thus, most thought Victor Hedman would win it. But there was no denying how great Fox was this season.
Statistically, Fox was far better than both Hedman and Cale Makar, the other two finalists. The voters got this one right.

Fox had 40 first place votes, and this wasn’t as close as we thought it would be. He was on 99 total ballots, out of 100 total. He was top-three in 91 of 100 ballots.
