NY Rangers Game 56 Open Thread: Finale

The Rangers close out their wacky season against the Bruins this afternoon. This is the definition of a meaningless game for the Rangers. I don’t think I was the only one who was barely engaged in Thursday’s game, and this one is no different. The Bruins got up early on Thursday and basically just held the puck the rest of the game. Wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the plan today.

Today is the end of the Jeff Gorton era in New York. He may have been fired earlier this week, but after this game, Chris Drury gets the full reins to make his changes. Let’s see how this plays out.

  • Buch has already served the suspension. What happened to Gaut? He is not in your lineup, and not on injured/scratched list.

  • Who knows maybe the Rangers will protect Kinkaid and expose George at the expansion draft. Losing Georgiev frees up capspace that the club can use to resign Shesterkin.

    • Um, no. lol

We don’t need more cap space, but even if we did we would trade Georgiev and at least get a decent draft pick

      • The Rangers need cap space Tanto to sign a player that can play hockey and clean Wilson’s and Matt Martin’s clock.

        • No, we have plenty … if we need more SOMEONE isn’t doing it right. You know who takes care of the Wilson’s and Martin’s of the world? 3rd or 4th line players with size that play a heavy game, if they cost you more than $2-3M, you’re doing it wrong … and we only need 2-3 of them, at most.

  • Zibanezaaad with the trip, Bruins go on the power play. These Boston announcers are something else.

    • 2 goals for Zibanejad, 3 assists by Buchnevich. Beating the boys from Beantown. Nice way to finish a strange season.
