The Rangers travel to Buffalo for a pair of games against the lowly Sabres. Buffalo finally snapped their losing streak at 18 games, beating the Flyers handily last night. This is good news for the Rangers, who now can’t possibly be the team that has a let down game and hands Buffalo their first win in forever. The bad news is that this is still a trap game.

Buffalo is likely relieved their losing streak is over, but that doesn’t mean they are going to sit back and let the Rangers walk all over them. Given the recent trend for the Rangers to take a few periods off, that could come back to bite them against a team looking to start a different kind of streak.

The Rangers do need points to stay relevant in the race. Buffalo is a team they need to beat and get those “easy” two points.
