NY Rangers Game 21 Open Thread: Another matinee

The Rangers get the Devils again today in another matinee. The Rangers may have given the Devils a shellacking on the scoreboard on Thursday, but anyone watching that game saw the Devils controlled the game. It was bad goaltending that did the Devils in. It was also good goaltending that saved the Rangers until the goals started piling up.

Kaapo Kakko is back, taking Colin Blackwell’s spot in the lineup. That decision is a little perplexing, as Blackwell has done nothing wrong to deserve a benching. There are certainly others that have not been as good as Blackwell, and others that have been straight up bad. Let’s see if the decision pays off.

Phil Di Giuseppe is the healthy scratch. Thanks for making all my posts this morning outdated, DQ.

  • Chytil can dish out some pretty passes. Pairing him up with some shooters would make his line more productive. Putting Blackie on his right flank and either Bread, Laf or Kreider on his left now the team has 3 forward lines that can score. If one has followed the Rangers all season like most of us here on this board, it’s the lack of scoring punch that has contribute to the Rangers losing many 1 goal games.

    • The only difference is Mika not scoring … if he were on his game we wouldn’t be talking about a lack of offense.

    • Chytil also makes a lot of ill advised tough to make passes that result in turnovers — that should diminish in time with maturity.

  • Great start…Fox goes coast to coast and Blackwell is in the lineup. Kaak forces turnover, Stromer capitalize 2 0 Rangers.

    • Nice dish by Chytil to that Andy Rooney fellow and just like that Rangers regain the lead.
