Injury Update: “Good chance” Filip Chytil returns tomorrow

Finally a good update on the injury front, as coach David Quinn has stated Filip Chytil has a “good chance” to play tomorrow. Chytil has been out since January with an upper body injury.

The Rangers have missed Chytil and desperately need him to return to the lineup. Outside of Ryan Strome, who has been the most consistent Ranger still actually playing (Artemi Panarin notwithstanding), the Rangers need center depth. Getting Brett Howden off the third line is critical.

The powerplay should also benefit from Chytil’s return, as PP2 has been a disaster since his injury.

  • Rooney or Blackwell could have anchored the 3rd line, it was never necessary to put Howden there, nor was it efficacious … thank God that DQ at least realizes Chytil is better than Howden. lol

    • In even strength TOI per game, Howden is only 12th among the fifteen Ranger forwards who have played. (ahead of Rooney, Lemieux, Gauthier). It isn’t like DQ is giving him much playing time. If one ignores the PK, I think DQ could easily bench Howden. The question is whether or not he will insist on dressing one of his weaker players (weakest?) because he thinks he needs him on the PK. It isn’t like Kreider or Lemieux or Strome can’t fill in.
