NY Rangers Game 19 Open Thread: Old Time Hockey

A Sunday matinee at The Garden, as the Rangers look to make it two in a row and four of their past five. Believe it or not, the Rangers are on a run since that miserable four game losing streak just two weeks ago. The Rangers played a dominant game on Friday night, and will look to continue that dominance today.

Expect the Bruins to come out with the rough stuff. Friday’s game was some Old Time Hockey. Given how that game went, we can expect more of the same. This one might get feisty from puck drop, which will make for an entertaining game. Let’s hope that offense shows up again as well.

  • Terrible first period. Mika and Kreider not engaged in the game at all . Need to shoot more and stop looking for the perfect shot

  • It looks like the Bruins are doing a good job of smothering any Rangers offense. They can’t win without scoring and the Rangers top guys are simply not getting it done.

  • They are unwatchable today! Cant complete a pass . Just dumping the puck in with no plan on offense at all . I don’t know what can be done with Mika anymore. He is just not bringing anything at this point. This isn’t Covid. I think he is too heavy and looks like he lost a step.

    • Thank you Dr. Czech. lol

Have you had Covid yourself? Do you know many people that have had it? It can take months to get over … you can’t just dismiss the likelihood that this is the lingering effects of Covid — especially the lost a step (even half a step is highly detrimental to his game).

      • FYI

My mom, business partner, best friend, several other friends, . All of them of them significantly older than Mika . My mom has dementia and is in a nursing home . They all fully recovered after around 7-30 days. Mika is 27 and it’s been significantly longer since when he had his Covid. I accepted it a month ago as a possibility. Not anymore. It’s not Covid and stop making excuses for him

        • Are you a health care worker? If not, shame on you. Young people don’t die of Covid, until they do. I will introduce you to long haulers who have symptoms for 6-9 months. Don’t be so cocky.

          • Shame on you! My wife is an ICU nurse and my daughter is an M3 at Cooper Medical canter in South Jersey . I know a lot more about it than you think I know. I also have over half a dozen clients who are doctors too.

        • You’re irresponsible. They’re fully recovered to do what exactly? Just live or play a sport where there’s no margin for error?

  • The Rangers team is not playing with much energy. They are losing puck battles and getting out muscled. Their passing is off as as their ability to pick up a pass. Boston is playing a strong game in their own end not giving the Rangers much of anything. I am hoping for some push back by the Rangers in the 3rd.

  • Just a terrible effort all around. Shame on coaches and team leaders allowing team to come out flat like that, at home, against a banged up Bruin team you just crushed 2 days earlier at home. Bad game plan and poor execution. Also, no adjustments between periods. Very disappointing

  • When the other team smothers your offense, you tend to look ‘flat’. I wonder when some of us might learn that? The problem was the lack of adjustment to the Bruins’ tactics.

    • Peter that’s true to an extent, but the Rangers offense smothered themselves today with poor passes, no crashing of the net and too many sideways dips doodles trailing by 3. Blackwell was one of the only players to actually shoot the puck on goal. I’m glad he was rewarded.
