The Rangers have promoted Assistant GM Chris Drury to Associate GM. It seems like an odd promotion, since I’m assuming a lot of you, like me, didn’t know the difference initially. Associate GM is apparently one step up and has direct reports. Whereas Assistant GM is just an assistant under the GM.
What this means is that Drury is not in the running for the Penguins GM role anymore. He was initially rumored to be on the list of front runners. But it looks like Kevin Weekes is in the lead now.
