McKenzie: Calgary, Detroit, 2 others interested in Tony DeAngelo

Per Bob McKenzie, there are “about 4-5 teams interested in Tony DeAngelo.” He also added that the Rangers are not interested in trading for another contract with salary. They also don’t want to retain any salary on a Tony DeAngelo trade. This is certainly interesting news regarding Tony DeAngelo and his trade value

We explored potential trade scenarios yesterday, and this news eliminates most of them. However the Sam Bennett swap with Calgary still seems like it could still be alive. As is the Colin White swap with Ottawa. However that is the Rangers taking on more salary beyond this year. Given the need for center, they may explore that option.

Reading between the lines here, it appears that Tony DeAngelo’s trade value isn’t as low as projected yesterday. However it isn’t as high as it might have been earlier. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
