Around the Farm: Lundkvist tops Henriksson in SHL showdown

Nils Lundkvist’s Lulea topped Karl Henriksson’s Frolunda yesterday 3-0 in a battle of the NY Rangers prospects. Both kids were held off the score sheet in this one, with Lundkvist getting almost 21 minutes of ice time.

Adam Edstrom was also in action, and he had a rough one. Rogle lost 3-0 and he was on the ice for all three goals against. He’s had a strong season to date, just a rough outing.

    • He did, had a great chance in OT as well.

Put him back with his linemates that he started the season with, back to scoring.

If they hadn’t screwed around with the lineup fir a month, they’d be a solid 3rd in the conference.

  • I wonder if Chytil doesn’t work out or at least take a step forward in his development, Gorton doesn’t consider offering up Kravtsov or Chytil and a draft pick(a 1st or 2x 2nd round picks) for Pierre-Luc Dubois from CBJ. He’s only 22 and has already showed he can be a top 6 pivot in the NHL. He was soured by the way CBJ treated him in contract talks over the last year. He’s got good size at 6’3 and 218lbs already and skates well. He’s got all the tools.
Gorton certainly has the trade chips to make a deal for him and he wants out of CBJ. PLD turned down a lucrative long term deal to sign a much more friendly 2 year deal in hopes Kekalainen can swing a deal.

Anyone else wanna weigh in on this? The kid is big, and gives the Rangers a ton more skill down the middle. If Chytil were not bound for CBJ in that trade, (Lafreniere is not a part of any deal) he slides to 3C and maybe a much easier assignment for him to grow as a player starting easier shifts against lighter competition with more shifts in the Ozone. Helps the NYR depth issues and the ripple effect puts players in more fitting roles. Makes the Rangers a much tougher team to match up against.
IMO, they will not be able to compete against the NHL elite until they have 3 or 4 line depth.
