Former Rangers coach John Muckler has passed away. Muckler took over the Rangers in 1998 after the Rangers fired Colin Campbell. Muckler would be the coach 25 games that season. He would also be the coach for the full 1998-1999 season and the majority of the 1999-2000 season. He was replaced after 79 games in that final season.

Muckler’s Rangers were not very good, but that wasn’t necessarily any fault of Muckler’s. While unsuccessful, his final year gave birth to the Czech Line of Petr Nedved, Jan Hlavac, and Radek Dvorak. Muckler was replaced by John Tortorella for that season’s final three games.

Muckler was a five-time Stanley Cup winner.
