2021 World Juniors: Canada, USA top respective groups in preliminary play

Team USA (Brett Berard, Hunter Skinner) and Canada (Braden Schneider, Dylan Garand) both topped their respective groups in the 2021 World Juniors. They will have the top two seeds in the single elimination tournament.

Team USA sealed its Group B win with a shutout over Sweden. The US outscored opponents 22-0 over their last three games of round robin play. Canada went undefeated in Group A play.

In the first round, Canada gets the Czech Republic while the US gets Slovakia. By winning their groups, they can’t meet until the 2021 World Juniors finals. The playoff bracket re-seeds after each round.
