The 2021 World Juniors have been a major disaster so far. Barely a week after roster changes across multiple teams were needed due to COVID tests, the IIHF has cancelled at least 6 exhibition games at the 2021 World Juniors.
The Rangers are sending four players to the tournament. However now it’s unclear if it will even take place. The test results and uncontrolled spread have put a dark cloud over the 2021 World Juniors this year.
How the IIHF handles this tournament could be a lesson for the NHL as it looks to relaunch the 2021 season. There are certainly lessons to be learned here. The NHL is already ahead of 2021 World Juniors, with no exhibition games scheduled. Let’s see what else is to come.
