Forbes has released their 2020 NHL team valuations, and the NY Rangers are again at the top of the list. The Rangers are at $1.65 billion. Rounding out the top three are Toronto ($1.5 billion) and Montreal ($1.34 billion).
This is actually no change from last year’s valuation, which shouldn’t surprise anyone. The league didn’t play 1/3 of the season and then had a makeshift playoffs. I’d expect the 2021 valuations to have the same stagnation or decline.
My how far the Rangers have come, though. In 2011, Forbes had them valued at $507 million. In less than ten years, that valuation has tripled. Most of that was through the playoff run, which makes sense as the Rangers were pulling in more playoff revenue.
