Artemi Panarin tops NHL Network list of top wingers

Artemi Panarin tops the NHL Network’s list of top wingers in the game right now, which should come as no surprise to anyone who paid attention last season. Panarin was almost solely responsible for the Rangers having a full top-six that could score. He put up a career year while playing primarily with Ryan Strome and Jesper Fast, a significant accomplishment.

Panarin will again be relied upon to carry a line in the top six. His center will likely rotate between Strome and Filip Chytil, but all signs point to Kaapo Kakko being his RW this year. While reproducing his career year isn’t a fair expectation, it is expected that Panarin will at least continue producing at a point per game pace.

This is a development year for the Rangers, so Panarin’s impact goes beyond the points. Helping Kakko reach his potential is an added benefit, and an important one. It’s why Artemi Panarin is a top winger in the league. He makes others around him better.

  • I cant wait for the new season to begin….Panarin, Mika, Chris, Kaapo, Chytil,Alex La F, . Just need some toughness in the bottom 6 so this tem will be a beast to plat against. LGR!!!

  • Don’t get me wrong, I think Panarin deserves this ranking, but saying that he “was almost solely responsible for the Rangers having a full top-six that could score” is a disservice to Mika Zibanejad. Mika scored 41 goals in 57 games (12 less than Artemiy), which is a pretty big deal, as well.

    • Dave being Dave. I appreciate what Dave does here, I really do, but he clearly is not the most unbiased person in the blogosphere. but who amongst us is unbiased?

  • Panarin is a great player.
We now need to add more talent on other lines so the opposition’s defense can’t just concentrate on our top 2 lines.

It is time that Chytil, Kakko and Gauthier put the puck in the back of the net. It is time for the defense to be part of the top half of the league.

Out PP should be very good, but our PK needs to improve.

  • We should have 3 Top 2 lines with all the talent here. Clearly one of those lines may not be quite “ready” to be a consistent Top 2 line, but our offensive capabilities should run through 3 lines.
