Chris Drury no longer in running for Florida Panthers GM role

Per Larry Brooks, NY Rangers Assistant GM Chris Drury is no longer in the running for the Florida Panthers GM role.

Drury withdrew his name from consideration for the role. No reason was given. But given the state of that franchise, it’s going to be a tall order for any newcomer. Drury would not be set up for success there.

Drury’s name was only in consideration for two weeks. This was after the Rangers granted permission for Chris Drury to speak with the Panthers about their GM role. It was a little surprising to see the Rangers grant permission, after denying the Sabres and Wild permission at various times.

For now, Drury will remain Assistant GM of the Rangers and GM of the Hartford Wolf Pack.

That would really depend on IF Bob bounces back from this nightmare of a season.

  • I know the Rangers think very highly of Drury. I wonder if they knew from the get that Drury wouldn’t take or get that job. He is one of the few guys that remain since Sather moved out of GM Post.
