The Rangers have signed prospect Morgan Barron to an entry level deal. Barron, the Rangers 6th round pick in 2017, just finished his junior year at Cornell, putting up a line of 14-18-32 in 29 games. He’s been a highly touted prospect in Rangers prospect circles, projecting out to be a bottom-six center sooner rather than later.
Barron is a guy the Rangers had been trying to get signed for some time. The Blueshirts wanted to get him signed last year, but he was committed to winning a National Championship with Cornell. With the Hockey East schedule up in the air and the AHL committed to a December 4th start date for their season, Barron made his decision.
Barron is a solid skater with great hockey sense. He makes good decisions with the puck and is strong in all three zones. He has a legitimate shot at making the roster next year. The deal Morgan Barron signed with the Rangers begins for the 2020-2021 season.
