TSN has updated their trade bait list, and while there are some no-brainers, there were a few surprises.

The no-brainer is that Chris Kreider tops the list as the best available player. The Rangers are reportedly trying to work on a contract extension, but history isn’t with the Rangers on this one.

Tony DeAngelo is #8 on this list, as it appears the Rangers either want to sell extremely high, or realize that Jacob Trouba and Adam Fox are cemented in their roles and it would be fiscally irresponsible to pay a 3RD $5 million.

The biggest surprise to me on this list is Pavel Buchnevich at #12. To me, this doesn’t make sense because Buchnevich is having a great year, and the goals are finally starting to come after a period of rough puck luck. He’s also signed through next season at a bargain price, something the Rangers will need. A top-six forward at $3 million is cheap.

Not on the list? Jesper Fast and Alex Georgiev. The latter here being the biggest surprise omission. Georgiev was high on this list but has fallen completely off, at least for now. Fast is a pending UFA, but perhaps since he is a bottom-six forward he isn’t included as expensive trade bait.
