New commenting system is live

In an effort to make the commenting experience a little better than the out-of-the-box functionality, I’ve enabled a new commenting system. These comments only load when you scroll to the end of a post, which should improve site load times/performance. The basic functionality remains the same, but there are some cool tidbits:

  • Liking/disliking comments is still available. Get 10 likes, and you get a gold badge on your comment.
  • You can sort by top rated, newest, or oldest – something new!
  • Comments are paginated by 50 comments per page.
  • Comment editing has been disabled for now – it didn’t work in this new system.
  • Comments should auto-refresh every 30 seconds or so, a little like Reddit.

Hope you guys like it!

  • Was hoping that the site would remember our name and email like before, but all the rest sounds great. By the way, am I the only one that has to clear my cache every day or so in order to post a comment?

PS: Like the new font size for commenting since my eyes are getting old — but just my eyes!

      • I never had a problem loading the site, now half the time the comments won’t show up … and I’m having a lot of trouble posting, it will just hang on “sending”. Plus I’m constantly clearing out my cookies just to get a shot at the page loading … frustrating. 🙁 One time it flagged me as spam.
