Another game against the Devils, another mysterious “injury” for Jack Hughes to avoid facing his bitter rival, Kaapo Kakko. Legend has it these two separated at birth, and force fed subliminal messages about how the other likes to mess with donkeys. This in turn has spewed incredible hatred and these two have been at odds ever since.

The science experiment took a turn for the worse when the Devils and Rangers landed the top two picks in their draft year, taking these bitter rivals and ensuring they always face each other on the ice for the rest of their natural born lives. With Kakko starting to dominate the talk and close the draft gap, the rivalry was intensified.

That was until Hughes found a way out of the competition by simply being injured whenever Kakko comes to town. It’s an effective way to avoid your rival.

I think I jumped the shark on this one.
