NY Rangers Game 13 Open Thread: The process needs to be better

The Rangers take on Detroit, looking to right the ship

The Rangers are back in action tonight in their first of back-to-backs. Tonight it’s Detroit on NBCSN for “Rivalry Night,” which is clearly loosely defined because I can’t remember the last time the Rangers and Red Wings were considered rivals. Really milking that Original Six matchup stuff, I guess.

Marc Staal and Greg McKegg return to the lineup for the Rangers. Ryan Lindgren and Lias Andersson sit for the two veterans. Perhaps this is all part of David Quinn’s master plan, where he plays a noticeably inferior lineup against other teams that can finish ahead of them in the tankings. Then again, Detroit did just call up old friend Dylan McIlrath for this one.

  • Can someone explain to me again why Lias “deserves” a shot at 2C, or the right to stay in the lineup regularly?

The kid struggles mightily out there. I must be missing something cuz I don’t believe he is the answer to anything this team needs right now. Get him to Hartford after seeing what they did with Chytil.

I just don’t see it with Lias. Is there some small sample size metric out there or something that I’m missing? The kid reminds me so much of Jamie Lundmark, it’s not even funny. At this point, I’m hoping he turns out more like Manny Malhotra and at least has an NHL career.

Because the Hockey experts of BSB say so.

  • You guys shouldn’t take sports so seriously, it supposes to be fun whether we agree or not. It’s a man cave for fans to escape everyday life.

  • Yep Larry, I have my hockey mancave complete with center ice and every other network that covers NHL hockey. It’s my happy place. Henk and Rangers looking better after the first against a Detroit club who also is trying to figure out who they are.
