Mika Zibanejad does not practice, will not play against Nashville

The NY Rangers' top center took a high hit from Patrice Bergeron last week

Mika Zibanejad will miss his second straight game, as he did not practice today and did not travel with the team to Nashville. David Quinn is calling it “neck/upper body issues” which at least isn’t a concussion.

The Rangers will use the same lineup from the Tampa Bay win against the Predators on Saturday afternoon.

  1. Hopefully the description of the injuries means that he didn’t suffer concussion symptoms. He is a good young player who deserves to have a long and productive career.

  2. it was announced last game that he was a game time decision, maybe they are giving him the extra rest due to the fact that the team won without him and there’s less a need to rush him back into the lineup. He is one of the players that mean very much for the upcoming years… but hearing neck with his history.. I think they would have said its not concussion related if it wasn’t so…

    I hope not.. but…

  3. “ David Quinn is calling it “neck/upper body issues” which at least isn’t a concussion.”

Because in the current NHL under Gary “There’s no link between concussions and CTEl Bettmen, we don’t use the word concussion.

We call it an “Upper Body Injury”

  4. Get well quickly Zib, we all want a speedy recovery for you, and your family. The Rangers will be OK short term, and there is no need to rush his return………..

  5. Bergeron cried like a baby after Lias put just about the same hit on him last year,I guess it okay for him to use it though.

    1. I thought the same thing. The whole B’s team can cry with the best of them, yet are as filthy as any team in the league.

  6. It is a rebuilding season, no point in Rushing Zibby back, let some kids get an education on the ice. He should return when he is 100% better and ready to play. Too many times in the past the Rangers have allowed injured players to continue playing to the detriment of the player and the team.

  7. But it’s not a concussion, especially with a player with a history of concussions. Right.

  8. “I thought that Filip Chytil had a second-line-center-type night, I thought Howden had a really good night. I thought Lias Andersson had his best night”.

DQ quote from this mornings article in the Post. I want to see how much TOI Andersson gets after he made this statement. I suspect he will get less time, any takers????????????
