Lineup Changes

Greg McKegg to step into fourth line role, other lines remain the same

Forward to make NY Rangers debut on Saturday

Per Vince Mercogliano, it looks like Greg McKegg will make his Rangers debut, sliding into the 4LW spot

McKegg will play with Lias Andersson and Brendan Smith, while Micheal Haley remains a healthy scratch. The top-nine will stay untouched, at least for now. This was rather expected in the short term.

  • Strome gets another shot at the 2C shot against his old teammates on the Oil. Yes he hasn’t had a great start to the season. But he has at times shown flashes of the kind of hockey player he can be.

IMHO this is Stromes’ last chance season. Either he can demonstrate why the fishsticks took him as an early first round pick or he will bounce around from team to team until no one answers his calls.

  • he’ll still have what it takes to play bottom-6 in the ever growing nhl. at a pay cut certainly, but he can still have another 5+ years of hockey in him in a support role.

  • I honestly think we’ll have cheaper options for the bottom 6 than Strome within our own prospect pool — and I use the word prospect loosely, meaning players under the age of 23-24.

I still think Strome would be better utilized on the wing so he’s free to get into good positions to score — that’s what he was doing last year and why his shooting percentage was in part so high.
