The hunt for a head coach of the Hartford Wolf Pack has come to a close. The New York Rangers have hired Kris Knoblauch, former OHL Erie Otters head coach and now former Philadelphia Flyers assistant coach, as the head coach of the Pack.

While in Erie, Knoblauch groomed players like Connor McDavid, Alex DeBrincat, and Dylan Strome. I don’t know much about his role in Philadelphia, but it looks like he’s a good guy with growth and development of prospects, something the Rangers sorely needed. He also embraces a more statistical approach to coaching, using that to supplement his coaching style and messages to his team.

On the surface, this seems like another good offseason move by the Rangers. It better be, too, since this move has lasting impact for the rebuild.
