gregg kckegg

The Rangers aren’t done yet, agreeing to terms with forwards Gregg McKegg and Danny O’Regan. McKegg, 27, spent last season with the Carolina Hurricanes/Charlotte Checkers. He put up 6-5-11 in 41 games with the Canes, and 6-17-23 in 31 games with the Checkers. The 6′, 200 lb lefty center is likely insurance/depth at the NHL level, possibly a good candidate for 13/14F.

O’Regan, 25, has spent most of his three year career in the AHL, amassing just 25 NHL games (1-4-5). Last year with Rochester, he put up 20-28-48 in 70 games. O’Regan is likely Hartford bound to help the transformation of the AHL club. O’Regan spent time with David Quinn at BU, for what it’s worth.

This seems like peanuts in comparison to the Artemi Panarin signing, but don’t discount how important it is to have a strong Hartford club with a good culture. That was John Davidson’s priority when he got here. While I know nothing of McKegg and O’Regan, my guess is they were vetted properly and will help instill a good environment with the kids in the AHL.
