Irresponsible Rumormongering

McKenzie: Rangers don’t feel they are out on Artemi Panarin yet

Per Bob McKenzie, the Rangers do not feel they are out on Artemi Panarin just yet.

The rumor is that Panarin is going to pull a Kevin Durant and sign with the Islanders, which is just oh so freaking super. But McKenzie is noting that while this is pure speculation, the Rangers might still be in the running.

I can’t imagine someone choosing to play hockey at the Barclay’s voluntarily, and that’s not even a slight against the Islanders. Even their fans hate that building. But what do I know?

  1. To paraphrase Willie Nelson: if you don’t feel we’re out on Panarain, feel again.

  2. Never count the Rangers out when it comes to signing big name free agents. Looking at the Rangers history, there is a lot of truth in that. I don’t know what it is but I can’t picture the Breadman in a fish stick jersey. But I suppose stranger things have happened.

    1. When the word is that they’ll go to X and the number is currently X +$1mm, they’re out.

  3. Isn’t the owner of the Barclay center a Russian? I believe that is the case. If we don’t sign him, so be it, I’m more than OK with it……………

    1. I’m far more than OK with not signing him, I’m extremely happy if we don’t sign him.
Great player but the wrong time to commit that much money as far as the Rangers go.
Signing him at the dollars and at 7 years would come back and bit us right in the posterior down the road. Just look at Toronto.

Belief is Panarin left money on the table. New York rangers are always an attractive draw.
