Looking at the 2019-2020 New York Rangers schedule

The Rangers released their 2019-2020 schedule:

As previously announced, the scheduler makers have a sense of humor, with the home opener against Winnipeg. The Rangers then have a weird six days off, a game, then four days off, then a back to back. That’s just odd schedule making. The Rangers have 11 back to backs, which doesn’t seem like many, but that’s 25% of the season as back to backs. November, February, and March are their busiest months.

There are some notable games here, such as the first Kakko/Hughes matchup on October 17. Kevin Hayes returns to MSG on March 1, although I can’t imagine a tearful tribute. The Rangers will acknowledge him though.

Mats Zuccarello’s return will be heartfelt. He will get a video. That date we don’t know though.

  1. The thing that stands out to me is that the final games of the season are going to be rough, as we play 9 of the last 14 games on the road. If we are in any contention for the playoffs, we better know how to win on the road.

  2. We already ordered our three tickets for the Devils game at the rock. Every year my son and I take his boy to a game, matinee game, so that we get Jake home in time for bed. The boy is so excited for that game, he can’t wait. It’s so much fun for me, kind of like I did with both of my sons!!!!!!!!!

    1. Also, if I want to tick Boston off the list of towns I’ve seen the Rangers in, Turkey day on the road. Probably not gonna happen.

Chicago on a Wednesday in Ferbuary doesn’t really tickle my fancy, either.

    2. Abroad trip worth taking will be in November when the Rangers travel to Ottawa.

Night before top 5 2020 pick Quinton Byfield will be in town, the night after Val D’or will be across the river.
