Some site news for your offseason Sunday.

For the past 10 years, since the day I created BSB, I’ve been focused on keeping the site owned by me. I like the idea of not being a content farmer for one of the blogging networks that don’t pay their writers. Granted the staff here doesn’t get paid, but it’s not like I have the ability to do it anyway. The ads on the site keep the lights on, somewhat.

I had been toying with the idea of starting a Patreon for a while to help offset some of the costs and time I commit on a daily basis to the site. I love writing about the Rangers, and I can’t believe what this little hobby of mine has become. We are the longest running Rangers blog out there, and I hope that this site runs until I am forced to shut it down, likely kicking and screaming.

The site hack in April, and the tremendous out of pocket cost that came with it, is what really got me down the path of starting this Patreon. I was toying with the idea of setting up donation tiers, but I didn’t want to restrict content to donors only, nor did I want to create a “special tier” content. I want the Patreon to be about keeping the lights on. The ads on the page do that to an extent, but costs are increasing and the revenue from ads is relatively static, creating this situation.

I am not creating tiers, I am not locking down content, and I am not forcing anyone to donate. We would not be here for 10 years without any of you, and I am truly appreciative of everyone that comes to this corner of the internet on a regular basis. Any and all donations go towards server costs, site security, and hopefully more timely issue resolution, so that the site isn’t down for extended periods of time, like it was in April.

You can donate by setting up a Patreon account and clicking here. There is also a widget on the sidebar for quicker access. I really appreciate you taking the time to read this today, and the time you take daily to read my ramblings, and the ramblings of the rest of the staff here.
