Game 72: At least I remembered they were playing tonight

Well the Rangers are back in action tonight against Minnesota, and I actually remembered they are playing tonight! Progress! For those who missed it, I completely forgot the Rangers had a game last night in Calgary, and by the looks of the highlights (I couldn’t watch the game, double whammy) the Rangers forgot they had a game too. With travel to Minnesota and a time zone change, the Blueshirts may come out sluggish in this one too.

The Blueshirts are in free fall, with a 1-4-5 record in their last ten games. Kudos to them for getting to overtime, but boy are those loser points killing their draft position. They currently sit in 7th, and are two points from 5th. Getting into the top-five (a 25% chance of getting into the top-two) is a win for this year.

Lias Anderrson has 1 goal this year…is this another Manny Malhotra like 1st round pick?

Manny was brought up to soon, but he eventually turned into a hell of a 4th line center for many years — after he left the Rangers of course. That said give the kid a little time, sheesh. He’s only 20 and has a long way to go in his development.

If he works on his skating thisnoff season , gains a little muscle and can be a little stronger on his skates he’s gonna be fine. Good 3-4 line center with potential.

He looks worse. Manny was a 4th liner for many years. Lias doesn’t belong in the NHL

he skates in quicksand. did they willfully ignore scouting reports bc gordie knew his dad?

I am not concerned about Lias development. Pionk on the other hand still is having a hard time figuring out the whole defense thing.

These last two games have been really tough to watch. The number of times they left Georg and Hank out to dry was fairly astonishing. Only bright lights tonight were Buch and Hank imo. Defense was atrocious especially Pionk. But for those embracing the tank you can’t ask for much more.

Most consistent Rangers last 20 games have been Strome and D’Angelo…Buch is getting hot however as we are losing so are Anaheim and Vancouver….Sabers too….tell me again, teams don’t tank?

We’re just not smart enough to smell the coffee , have too much pride in not getting the Cup.

    Rangers in full tank mode.

Chytil’s turnover that led to Minny’s 2nd goal was a beauty.

Thoughts on Lettieri?…his stats at NHL level are not good, but they never give him a chance on 1st or 2nd line. He should get one more call up with better players on his line. Also, should Gilmour replace Pionk for the rest of the season? Lets sit Staal and see what he can do now.

I liked Lettieri in the beginning because he was shooting the puck. But he’s an AHL lifer, IMO.

I don’t know why Gilmour has not gotten a shot.
