Rangers re-sign Steven Fogarty to one-year contract extension

The Rangers have re-signed center Steven Fogarty to a one-year contract extension. The Rangers’ third rounder in 2011 (now 25 years old), Fogarty got his first call up this year, playing 10 games with the Rangers before being sent back to the AHL. Fogarty has a line of 17-22-39 with the abysmal Pack, a huge improvement on his first two seasons with the club. Fogarty is a nice call up/13F option.

Terms haven’t been disclosed yet.

His stat line has improved, but the last month he’s been at something slightly above 1ppg down there in a 2 way role.

Hopefully we get to see more of him if the Rangers run out a 4th line of him, Boo & Lettieri as a 10 game experiment.

13 points in his last 10 games, 10 in his last 5.

His stint in the BCHL after high school was impressive. I really thought the Rangers had a brilliant draft steal… excellent size, 2-way player, ok skater… didn’t work as I hoped… ?

Yeah, they thought he would have more of an offensive side to his game — he could be one of those real late bloomers as a 4th line center or a career call-up. With the center depth on this team I’m betting on the latter.

We will have a first line and 3 4th lines the way this is going. Enough wannabe NHL forwards. Find me a stud for the 2nd line please?

Well we got back a 4th and a 7th for McQuaid, too bad the draft position is worse … that’s a slight loss but I’m sure the best Gorton could get.
