Game 55: Are we watching the last home game with several Rangers?

As Toronto comes to New York for a hockey game tonight, we take a step back and realize that the Rangers are hitting the road for the next four games, and there’s a solid chance that one or more of Mats Zuccarello, Kevin Hayes, and Chris Kreider (along with others) may not be returning with the team. With the trade deadline a little under three weeks away, moves may get made while the team is traveling.

Beyond that, the Blueshirts are hosting the Maple Leafs, who just added Jake Muzzin to an already dangerous team. The forwards are legit great and the defense just got bolstered big time. If Tampa is the run away favorite, then Toronto is the clear cut second most dangerous team in the East. That will be a fun series to watch in the (checks notes) second round…

    1. Coach Quinn sends Pionk over the boards to defend shorthanded against one of the best PP in the league. Good grief.

      1. Never! But wow what a performance!! (And the grandson came up huge against the #1 team in the league to clinch a playoff spot!)

  1. Georgi was solid between the pipes tonight. He was the Rangers best penalty killer. 5 on 5 the Rangers worked hard and took the play to the Leafs.

  2. Game of a lifetime for Georgi imo. Hank giving him the game puck after that performance gave me all the feels. And somehow this team is only 7 points out of a playoff spot…

    1. Toronto fired PP 23 shots on Georgie he stopped them all, he was stellar. The Rangers penalty killers on the other hand AWOL.

      1. That actually is the #1 reason this team isn’t in a playoff position. Our PK has been dreadful throughout most of the season — aside from a few games here and there, especially the first few after the All-Star game.

Georgi was so solid, so calm … it will be really interesting to see what happens when Shesty comes next year — and what will happen when the expansion draft rolls around.
