The Rangers are in St. Louis on New Year’s Eve to take on the oddly bad Blues who are a cellar dwelling team. The Rangers should be a cellar dwelling team, but for some reason keep getting loser points. Those 7 loser points put them at 39 points. If they were at 32 points, instead of 39, they’d be last in the NHL. So let’s remember that the Rangers are actually terrible.

The Blues have been marginally better lately, so there’s that. Also the Rangers are getting Kevin Shattenkirk back, so they are fully healthy for the first time in quite some time. A win to close out the year would be nice, but something settled in regulation would be better.
