Game 37: The tough contests continue in Nashville

DIsclaimer: The lineups and some of the information in the game threads through the end of the year may be out of date. I’m on vacation and scheduled these well in advance. So while you guys are dealing with snow and stuff, I’m on a beach.

The Rangers have had a rough schedule in December. Yes, they had a ton of days off. But they’ve also gone up against a good amount of playoff teams in the games they did have. Tonight is another test, as the Cup contender Nashville Predators host the Rangers.

The Predators are a very well run organization with a deep team from top to bottom. This is a true Cup contender, along with the Winnipeg Jets. It’s a safe bet that one of them will come out of the Western Conference this year. As for the Blueshirts, well they don’t match up. They will try, though.

Nashville Lineup:

Filip Forsberg-Ryan Johansen-Viktor Arvidsson
Craig Smith-Kyle Turris-Kevin Fiala
Colton Sissons-Nick Bonino-Calle Jarnkrok
Miikka Salomaki-Frederick Gaudreau-Zac Rinaldo

Roman Josi-Ryan Ellis
Mattias Ekholm-P.K. Subban
Dan Hamhuis-Yannick Weber

Pekka Rinne gets the start.

Henrik Lundqvist gets the start.

Scratches/Injuries: Kevin Shattenkirk (shoulder), Cody McLeod (hand), Jesper Fast (upper body), Fredrik Claesson (healthy)

Crazy Prediction: The defense doesn’t allow any slot line passes for goals..

Game time is 8pm.

The refs doing their best to try to tilt the ice in Smashvilles favour with their ticky tacky calls. The Rangers are quick on the counter attack tonight, Delangelo with the good wheels leaving the zone.

Nice release by Jesper there for the go ahead marker. What is Lindholm whining about? Krieder cleanly stripped him of the puck with his good hustle.

What the hell has gotten into Jesper Fast? He looks like Mike Bossy out there tonight.

Fast made that line go tonight. Getting wide open and firing them home like that is A++ hockey.

Staal played like the terminator tonight lol.

I don’t know whether we’ll hold on to this 4-3 lead, but this game makes me 100% believe that we’re no worse than a 500 team. Our forwards and goaltending are too good.

We can kiss lose for Hughes goodbye, This is good for now but it’ll cost us later years. Pionk had a heck of a game. Howden amazes me with how smart he is on the ice….He’ll be a real good one with more experience.Jesper the sniper Fast? Oh my…lol… McLeod was good out there. Unbelievable but he impacts this team, don’t ask me why. I have no answer to that question.

I would like to see the Rangers get a top 3 draft pick. I just don’t think Hughes is the guy they should use it on. 4-0 Sweden over USA.

Wow. Who was that team and what did they do with our Rangers? They won in regulation on the road, closed out a 6 on 5, and Quickie scores 2 goals. I’m actually shocked…
