rangers islanders kevin hayes

For the first time in a long time, the Rangers beat the Islanders. In fact, they crushed the Islanders. Alex Georgiev had the shutout, and Filip Chytil had his second straight game winner as the Rangers cruised to a 5-0 victory. It was the first win over the Isles in a long time (I can’t find the exact stat), and it felt good. It also gives the Rangers a 9-1-1 record in their last 11 games. Who woulda thunk?

It was nice to see the Rangers cruise to a win, especially after jumping out to another 2-0 lead early on. This time around they not only held it, but doubled up on it (and then some). This was a night of firsts for the Rangers too. Cody McLeod’s first goal as a Ranger. Ryan Strome’s first point as a Ranger. And Alex Georgiev’s first NHL shutout.

This is a feel good game.

Rangers 1, Isles 0

Sometimes you create your own luck. Chytil’s pass bounces off Ryan Pulock and right back to him. He had the open net as Robin Lehner was moving with the pass.

Rangers 2, Isles 0

Cody McLeod did a great job here, forcing the turnover on the forecheck and then getting to the front of the net. Tony DeAngelo ensured he got his shot through, and McLeod got a piece of it.

Rangers 3, Isles 0

Another day, another powerplay point from Neal Pionk. This time he got the puck back in the high slot with traffic in front, and blew it by everyone. Great look, and great screen by Chris Kreider in front.

Rangers 4, Isles 0

A nice turnover. A nice pass. A nice move by Kevin Hayes. Very nice all around.

Rangers 5, Isles 0

Kreider down the wing. Seems to be a constant. Nice shot.

Happy Thanksgiving!
