Preseason Game 4: Devils at Rangers

Another day, another preseason game. I’m surprised the roster hasn’t thinned out yet, but I guess there are new things to get used to on a rebuilding team. Henrik Lundqvist is getting the start, so I expect us to see a better performance as he shakes some of the rust off.

As for the lineup, both Neal Pionk and Tony DeAngelo are playing today. I get the feeling those two are competing for spots with each other. I still think ADA has the inside track –he’s been better all preseason– but there is still a competition there.

Oddly enough, Matt Beleskey’s performance intrigues me. Wonder if he’s a viable option at half his salary.

Both Lineups:

Crazy Prediction: The GWG scorer gets cut later tonight.

Game time is 7pm.

Maz looked really rusty. Thinking Tokarski starts the season as the backup to give Georgiev more work. Hank looked good.

Hank looked a lot calmer. Gotta think they want Georgiev to get some big minutes in Hartford to start the year but I bet he comes up after a couple of months or less…

Hayes makes a sweet feed to Letteri for the winner. The Boink kid looks like Zuc on D.

That mini toe drag…….. It bought one more second for Lettieri to fend off a NJD to position himself for a sweet direct.

Lettieri>Vesey, I said last season, over the summer and I still think it stands as of today. There’s no way he’s from Minny.

Pionk had a strong game. Hank looked much sharper. Does anyone else think that Staal had as rough of a night as it seemed to me?
