Three questions since the last one. It’s been a slow summer, since we all know what’s coming this year. As always, use the widget on the side to submit questions for the mailbag.

Tony asks: What do you expect the attendance to be like this year? Ticket prices?

This is a very good question. I think the first month or so will be normal sellout attendance, and then if/when the Rangers fall out of contention, we will see empty seats. I don’t think it’s going to be crazy abandoned though, if that makes sense.

As for ticket prices, we can only hope they go down. I used to have 10-game packs with Becky, but we got priced out after a few playoff runs and the MSG renovation.

GAG Reunited asks: Aside from the obvious, which kids do you think will make the club?

I’m assuming that “the obvious” means Lias Andersson/Filip Chytil. So aside from those two, my dark horse is Ty Ronning. He’s feisty, he’s a bottom-six player, and he plays the type of game that fans love. The Rangers need all three of those right now, and Ronning has the skill and speed to surprise some folks. He slipped to the seventh round due to size, but that didn’t stop his dad either.

Folks are big on Brett Howden as well. I can see him surprising some folks as well. I lean on the cautious side with him. There’s no need to rush him, and he may be best served as a sheltered 3C next season. Right now, that role may be Andersson’s or Chytil’s.

Fred (ok, I’m assuming this is one of the Daves from before) asks: Think the Rangers invite anyone to camp?

I wrote a post on it, a little while ago. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Rangers invite a goalie to camp on a PTO. Kari Lehtonen strikes me as a candidate. Dustin Tokarski isn’t really a viable backup option if Alex Georgiev forgets his game. The Blueshirts will need someone as a stopgap. Maybe Tokarski is that guy. I don’t get it, but I stopped questioning Allaire a long time ago.
