Top Rangers Play Tournament: (1): Lundqvist’s windmill save vs. (9) Kreider ties it against Montreal

With Ryan McDonagh’s OT winner advancing to the next round yesterday, we move on to the right side of the bracket. Today it’s two big plays against Montreal. First is Henrik Lundqvist’s windmill save, one that left us with our jaws dropped wondering what just happened. The other is Chris Kreider’s tying goal in the third to tie Game 3.

  • Kreider was the better moment…even tho the saves were in the Series clincher…Save is a bit over hyped

    • No, you can’t over hype that save … that was an incredible save that reflects many of the great attributes of Hank’s goaltending. Girardi deflecting the trajectory of that puck so close in makes that save one for the books.

        • As a goalie, that save is virtually impossible to make. It “floats” because you’re seeing it in slow-mo.

Hank is moving to his left, and the puck changes direction on him to go to his right. He needs to stop his momentum, push off his leg to go back, and generate enough momentum in the other direction to be able to reach the puck, all while keeping his eye on a knuckler.

This is all done in less than one second.
