The Rangers have recalled goalie Alex Georgiev from the Hartford Wolf Pack. This is not a youth movement call up, like Neal Pionk or John Gilmour. This is to replace the newest member to the walking wounded, Ondrej Pavelec. Pavelec left last night’s game with a knee injury, forcing Henrik Lundqvist to play the final two periods.

Gerogiev, a 22 year old from Russia, has a .908 SV% and a 2.97 GAA. He had a bad start to the year, and has played better of late. I’m not sure his numbers are a true indication of his talent, since the Pack haven’t really been that good this season.

The Pavelec injury means Hank likely gets the majority of the starts on the upcoming four game road trip.
