Rangers qualify Zibanejad, Jensen, Fast; Skapski not qualified

The Rangers have submitted qualifying offers to forwards Mika ZIbanejad, Jesper Fast, and Nicklas Jensen. They were the only three RFAs to receive qualifying offers. As expected, Brandon Pirri, Adam Clendening, and Marek Hrivik did not receive qualifying offers.

The surprise is that Mackenzie Skapski also did not receive a qualifying offer. Skapski dominated Buffalo in a pair of games in the 2014-2015 season, but never recovered from offseason dual hip surgery. He struggled mightily this year, and with the goalie pipeline strong, retaining Skapski wasn’t on the radar.

    1. Just curious… What is Sestito going to add to the team? Other than smashing faces and throwing cheap dirty hits.

  1. What surprise with Skapski? They could plug Wall or Huska in tomorrow (or after prospect camp) and be better.

I wish him the best, but in a CBA world, he wasn’t for one of 50 contracts.

  2. I am not surprised that they didn’t offer Pirri, or Skapski, or clendenning contracts the important things are resigning Mika and Brendan first

  3. I like Skaps and hope he catches on with an nhl club or if not hope my Florida Everblades get him!
