The 2016 trade deadline is today at 3pm. There have already been a few moves, two by the Rangers. The Rangers sent Aleksi Saarela and a pair of second rounders to Carolina for Eric Staal, and then sent Ryan Bourque to Washington for the non-musician Chris Brown. They also returned Marek Hrivik to Hartford. Around the league, there were a few other moves made yesterday. I will be updating this thread with trades made, Rangers moves bolded.
- Kings acquired Kris Versteeg from Carolina for prospect Valentin Zykov and a conditional 5th rounder.
- The Caps acquired Daniel Winnik and a 2016 5th rounder from Toronto for Brooks Laich, prospect Connor Carrick, and a 2016 2nd round pick.
- Arizona acquired Sergei Plotnikov from Pittsburgh for prospect Matthias Plachta and a conditional 7th round pick.
- Apparently Kris Russell wants a Jeff Petry type deal (six years, $33 million). So, good luck to whoever trades for him.
- Ho hum.
- The NHL has acquired my boredom in exchange for hours in the day.
- Pick a number between 1 and 10.
- Oh hey a rumor. Darren Dreger says the Stars are interested in Dan Hamhuis and Kris Russell. Might try to get both.
- The Avs are interested in Mikael Boedker. Because of course they are, he’s not loved by analytics people.
- A trade! Carolina gets Dennis Robertson in exchange for Drew MacIntyre. Ok, sort of a trade.
- Boedker has been traded to Colorado. Alex Tanguay, Kyle Wood, and Connor Bleakley (!!) headed to Arizona. What is Colorado doing?
- The Stars appear to be closing in on Kris Russell, per Pierre LeBrun.
- Russell has been traded to Dallas. Calgary gets Jyrki Jokipakka, Kevin Pollack, and a conditional 2nd round pick.
- Eric Gelinas is headed to Colorado as well. New Jersey gets a 3rd round pick in 2017.
- Brandon Pirri is headed to Anaheim. Florida gets a 6th round pick in return. Was hoping the Rangers would land him. Oh well.
- What an anticlimactic deadline day.
- John-Michael Liles goes from Carolina to Boston for prospect Anthony Carmara and 3rd/5th round picks.
- Shane Prince heads to the Islanders from Ottawa for a third round pick. The Isles also sent a 7th rounder to Ottawa.
- Lee Stempniak is headed to Boston
