In a surprising move, probably for AHL depth, the Rangers sent Hartford Wolf Pack captain Ryan Bourque to the Washington Capitals in exchange for center Chris Brown. Brown, a second round pick in 2009, is mostly a career AHL guy, like Bourque. Brown has 23 NHL games, Bourque has just one.

Bourque clearly had no future with the club, as he wasn’t one of the injury call ups this season or last. Sad to see him go, but hopefully he gets a shot with Washington.
