Rangers recall Marek Hrivik; send Dan Paille to Hartford

The Rangers have recalled forward Marek Hrivik for tonight’s game against Detroit. Hrivik, 24, has been with the Rangers organization since signing as an undrafted free agent prior to the 2012-2013 season. The winger has impressed in some camps, but never made the cut on a team that preferred to sign a veteran over giving a kid who might fail a chance. This is a refreshing move for the Rangers.

Daniel Paile, who was waived yesterday, cleared waivers and was sent to Hartford.

  1. Wasn’t expecting this, unless Hrivik kills penalties, but I’m glad he’s getting a chance. Time to see what Marek can do in the NHL.

    1. Statistically speaking, he’s been good on the AHL level. Probably the best option. Whether that actually means anything on the NHL level remains to be seen.

This is all just stop gap most likely until (hopefully) Nash comes back, and/or a deadline deal happens.

      1. hey eddie, I was watching your boy Glass skating aimlessly around not accomplishing anything on the PK.

and by the way, Cally used to make booming hits that made the Garden crowd cheer, and the opponents used to take the puck and go the other way on odd man rushes because with those booming hits to please the crowd, Cally took himself out of the play.

So hits are all well and good but they need to be meaningful to the play as well. Play smart.

  2. Stop gap since we traded away top six winger Duclair. Hey, let’s look at the bright side…the trade of Duclair might mean that trading Rick Middleton will no longer be the worst trade ever by a Ranger GM.
