2015 nhl draft

Here’s a quick rundown of the roadmap for the Rangers, based off the 2015 NHL Draft profiles I compiled the past two weeks. Hopefully the Rangers follow this roadmap.

My ideal moves:

Quick note: At the time of this posting, the rumored return for Cam Talbot was ridiculous. I’m expecting a pair of 2nds, and maybe a 6th. I know that now the rumors state a 1st is in play. This is getting crazy. I don’t know what to expect, but the expectations below were written before news broke that Talbot can fetch a 1st.

I would also trade Kevin Klein to a team for a 2nd and 5th or other late pick. Consequently these would be my choices (full roadmap after the jump):

33- Dunn/Roslovic (if Bracco is still here take Bracco)
57- Rasmus Andersson
59- Alex Dergachyov
89- Jesper Lindgren
119- Conor Garland
5th rounder in trade (move into 4th round by using 5th rounder and a pick from next year- Brad Morrison
6th rounder- Cam Askew
6th rounder from Talbot deal – Ziyat Paigin
7th rounder – Kay Schweri

Pick # Player Position Briefer
16 (rumored) from Edmonton Denis Guryanov Winger Power forward/ scorer. Reminds me of Jamie Benn
Travis Konecny Center Small but skilled playmaker reminds me of Claude Giroux
Daniel Sprong Winger Speedy sniper
21 (rumored) from Buffalo)*Now traded to OTT in the Robin Lehner deal Jansen Harkins Center Probably one of the better two way centers available in the draft. Probably second liner
Evgeni Svechnikov Winger Big skilled power forward
Daniel Sprong (If still available) Winger
Oliver Kylington Defense Super smart and offensively gifted puck moving defenseman. Needs to work on defensive game a bit but look like Erik karlsson
31 (rumored) from Buffalo Jeremy Bracco Winger If available this super skilled winger would be a steal here
Oliver Kylington (If still available) Defense
Brock Boesner Forward Seen as the player either drafted 29th or 30th but if a team reaches for another player he may be available here. Very intelligent and is a nice skater this scoring forward is a good pick for anyone
33 (rumored) Edmonton Jack Roslovic Forward The incredibly smart and skilled American forward is a riser in the draft. Can pass and shoot well. Nice skater. Looks like a top 6 forward in the nhl
Vince Dunn Defense The offensive defenseman is something the NYR really need in the system. Can drive the play. Surely a top 4 defenseman and pp specialist if he develops properly
39 (rumored) from San Jose Christian Fischer Forward Consistent, fast and a responsible two way forward with a nice shot. Prototypical NYR pick
Mitchell Vande Sompel Defense An impressive offensive defenseman that is an incredible skater. Probably a big risk this early but if other targets are gone I wouldn’t mind.
Gabriel Gagne Center Right handed power forward center that creates havoc around the net. Good defensively. Nice shot. Good acceleration
Nicholas Meloche Defense Smooth skating righty D with size. Great transition game and very intelligent when it comes to reading plays.
52, 53, 57 (rumored) from Calgary / Edmonton and 59 (NYR OWNED) Alex Dergachyov Center The huge playmaking center is truly a tough player to handle. Good skater for his size.
Rasmus Andersson Defense Right handed swift skating offensive defenseman that would be a huge add. So smart and responsible.
Roope Hintz Winger Incredibly intelligent and fast offensive player. A real sniper
Julius Nattinen Center Incredibly smart two way center that is a good skater. Underrated playmaking ability and puck handling. Kopitar lite.
89 (NYR owned) Jesper Lindgren Defense Right handed offensive defenseman that is a wonderful skater. He is also very intelligent.
Blake Speers Center Hard to know if he will be around by the time the NYR pick but if he is he is a nice fast two way player. Looks like his game will translate well as a 3rd line guy that can chip in points.
Dymytro Timashov Winger Very dynamic but diminutive winger has all of the offensive capabilities to become a zuccarello like player in the NHL.
Chaz Reddekopp Defense Imposing defensive force that has an underrated offensive game. Should he continue to develop it he can be a steal of the draft.
119 (NYR Owned) Conor Garland Winger The super speedy dynamic forward recorded a lot of points but is ranked low because of his size. The NYR need to take a chance on him. Good shot and great playmaker.
Brad Morrison Center The tenacious and feisty two way forward plays a fast and sneaky game. He is intelligent and reminds me a lot of Brad Marchand and Brendan Gallagher. He would be an awesome addition to the system.
Ethan Bear Defense the right-handed defenseman is a bit inconsistent but is not only a good skater but he possesses a great one timer. He probably wont be a top pair defenseman but would be a sweet #4 guy who helps on the PP
Aleksi Saarela Center/wing The short but spark plug winger is an interesting player that can be drafted anywhere between round 4-7. He possesses a good shot and is a nice skater. Needs to improve defensively.
Tyler Soy Center The playmaker is capable of performing well on both ends of the rink. While his shot is accurate he is more of a passer. Probably won’t be a 2nd liner but his intelligence can make him a pretty effective 3rd line center
179 (NYR Owned) Cameron Askew Center The big nasty powerforward didn’t have the best offensive season but showed flashes of skill that makes it seem like he has another gear to him. Needs to work on skating specifically an explosive step. Should he do that he will be a bull on the ice. (NYR apparently interviewed him 5 times)
Olivier Galipeau Defense The defensive defenseman had an underwhelming season but he has a good first pass out of the zone and is a nice skater. Can by a Ryan Graves like pick for the NYR.
Henrik Tornqvist Forward the intelligent swedish forward plays against men and knows how to get to the net. Can be a steal in this draft
209 (NYR owned) Ziyat Paigin Defense the huge russian defenseman is older than most draft eligible players but he is already an important member for SKA in the KHL. really smart and is a nice skater for his size that looks like he can be a nice depth two way defenseman in the KHL (wouldnt mind him in the 6th)
Kay Schweri Winger quick and dynamic defines Kay. He is unranked on central scouting because of his size and being 19 but he seems to be following in the footsteps of fellow Euro Ondrej Palat. Schweri like palat recorded way over a point per game but is still looking like they can be available late in the draft.
Nikita Pavlychev Center The massive Russian two way center is intelligent and is looking like a strong defensive player. will be playing in the NCAA next season and hopefully can round out his skating and offensive game.
