While we were away for the server upgrade, the Rangers made a few moves that we couldn’t post about. Naturally, the news came about two hours after we shut it down, so I’d like to thank the Rangers for their impeccable timing. I kindly ask that from now on, you wait until we are no longer in a server upgrade to announce news*.

*-Considering this will likely be our first and only server upgrade, you can pretty much ignore that.

Anyway, the Rangers signed undrafted free agent Ryan Haggerty out of RPI on Wednesday following a very impressive junior year. In 35 games, the 6′, 180-lb forward put up a line of 28-15-43 with 42 PIMs. Haggerty has improved his scoring in each of his three years at RPI, and was a former teammate of 2011 first round pick J.T. Miller when they were with the USNDT in 2010-2011. Haggerty.

Haggerty was not on the reserve list for the Rangers, so he is ineligible to play for the team in the playoffs. He also missed the AHL’s Clear Day, which means he can’t play for the Hartford Wolf Pack either. Capgeek doesn’t have any information on the contract yet, but I’d venture a guess that this is a deal that starts next season, not this year, to avoid burning a year of his ELC.
